1 and Chevron have announced the creation of a new company to develop scalable, reliable power solutions for US-based data centers powered by American natural gas.
The joint development, in collaboration with GE Vernova, aims to establish the first co-located power plant and data center on a multi-gigawatt scale.
The first projects are expected to take advantage of seven GE Vernova 7HA natural gas turbines manufactured in the US.
The projects are expected to serve co-located data centers in the Southeast, Midwest and Western regions of the US.
The joint development plans to deliver up to four GW, equivalent to powering 3 to 3.5 million US homes, with initial commissioning expected by the end of 2027 and potential for project expansion beyond this capacity.
