Philips: emergency care business sold to Bridgefield
(CercleFinance.com) - Philips announced on Tuesday evening that it had reached an agreement to sell its emergency medical care business to US investment firm Bridgefield Capital, for an undisclosed amount.
The Dutch healthcare equipment manufacturer specifies that the scope of the transaction includes its in-hospital and out-of-hospital emergency medical equipment, such as defibrillators.
Under the terms of the agreement, Bridgefield will have a 15-year exclusive license to manufacture and distribute emergency medical service devices under the Philips brand.
The sale is expected to be completed in H2 2025.
The Dutch group, formerly known for its home appliances and consumer electronics products, says this decision is part of its strategic roadmap presented in January 2023, which calls for focusing on the most promising businesses in terms of size and financial results.
Following this announcement, Philips shares were up 0.5% in late morning trading in Amsterdam.
