Nokia: selected by London Internet Exchange

(CercleFinance.com) - Nokia announced on Monday that it had been selected by the London Internet Exchange (LINX), the British exchange where more than 850 Internet players interconnect, as part of a project to protect against Denial of Service (DDoS) attacks.

The Finnish network equipment supplier states that it will provide the interconnection system with its 'Nokia Deepfield' solution to enable it to cope with new DDoS-type threats.

This form of cyber-malware aims to render a server inaccessible by sending multiple requests until it is saturated, or by exploiting security flaws to cause a service failure or malfunction.

According to a recent study published by Nokia, some network operators must now be registering around a hundred DDoS attacks a day, compared with one or two a few years ago, most of them carried out by 'bots', software robots that behave like human users.
