Nokia: upgrades BBIX network in Japan

(CercleFinance.com) - Nokia has announced that BBIX, one of the world's leading Internet exchange points, has chosen Nokia's IP routing technology to upgrade its network to 400GE to meet the growing demand for data traffic.

Once deployed, BBIX will not only increase capacity, but also improve the stability, flexibility and reliability of BBIX's network operations, resulting in superior services for its customers.

BBIX will deploy the Nokia 7220 Interconnect Router (IXR) running the Nokia SR Linux (NOS) network operating system, enabling BBIX to guarantee high-quality network interconnection even as the number of broadband customers continues to grow. Deployment will begin in Japan this year, and will then be extended to other markets, including Singapore.

Hideyuki Sasaki, President and CEO of BBIX, said that Nokia's solution offers the sophisticated capabilities we need to handle high-volume traffic while maintaining exceptional quality of service.

Kent Wong, Vice President and Head of IP Networks Asia Pacific at Nokia, said that they are delighted to be working with BBIX to upgrade their network with our IXR 7220 running NOS SR Linux to help our customer improve operational efficiency while their customers benefit from a highly scalable, future-proof network.
