Rolls-Royce: to power ships in Singapore
(CercleFinance.com) - Singapore shipbuilder Strategic Marine has ordered a series of three new offshore supply vessels, capable of top speeds in excess of 53 knots - making them the fastest in their class in the world.
Each vessel will be powered by four Rolls-Royce mtu Series 2000M72 16-cylinder engines. The vessels will use innovative air-cushion technology in a catamaran hull, reducing drag and emissions while increasing speed and efficiency.
The vessels will be used by a national oil company in Africa to transfer passengers to offshore platforms and floating production, storage and offloading units.
