Société Générale: Barclays upgrades stock

(CercleFinance.com) - Barclays has raised its recommendation on Societe Generale from 'equal weight' to 'overweight', with a target price raised by 37% to E41, deeming the company's risk-return profile too attractive to ignore.

The fundamentals are convincing for Societe Generale, the broker says, citing a recovery in net interest income in France, a pivot in BoursoBank's profitability, internal measures on costs and sufficient CET1.

The French risk has not disappeared, but has dissipated sufficiently from our point of view to represent a more limited risk for Societe Generale, Barclays adds, pointing to a recent decline in the yield spread between the French OAT and the German Bund.
