
Burberry: Stifel remains cautious after Q3 results
(CercleFinance.com) - Stifel maintains its 'Hold' recommendation on the share, leaving its target price unchanged at 830p, following the announcement of Q3 figures which recorded a solid performance in the US, where the group benefited from the reopening of a store in New York.
Burberry reported a 4% decline in retail sales in Q3, although well ahead of the consensus of -12% and a significant improvement on the -20% decline recorded in Q2, Stifel says.
Sales in all regions improved sequentially, with Asia Pacific down 9% vs. -28% in Q2, EMEA down 2% vs. -10% and the Americas up 4% vs. -18%, it adds.
China aales were stable in Q3, which is a significant improvement on a decline of more than 20% in Q2.
The group has presented initial progress in the implementation of its new 'Burberry Forward' strategy. The analyst believes it is still early days, but customer reaction over the festive season was clearly encouraging.
