Enel: launches airport photovoltaic system
(CercleFinance.com) - Enel announces the launch of Europe's largest airport photovoltaic system.
The new 22 MWp solar farm at Leonardo da Vinci airport is the largest photovoltaic installation on the grounds of a European airport. It aims to reduce CO2 emissions by over 11,000 tonnes a year.
The project, which was carried out by the Enel Group, marks a decisive step towards the decarbonization of Aeroporti di Roma (ADR), a goal that aims to ensure that the capital's airports (Fiumicino and Ciampino) have zero net carbon emissions by 2030.
Francesca Gostinelli, Head of Enel X Global Retail, said that today we are here to celebrate an ambitious goal: the largest self-consumption renewable energy photovoltaic installation located in a European airport. This milestone demonstrates ADR's growing commitment to energy efficiency and emissions reduction.
