BT Group: to sell its data centers in Ireland
(CercleFinance.com) - BT Group is to sell its BT data center operations in Ireland to Equinix, which include two data centers in CityWest and Ballycoolin, Dublin.
The transaction, worth E59m, is expected to close in H1 2025, subject to competition and regulatory clearance.
This asset-lighting strategy and partnership approach to data center services provides BT with a much more commercially scalable and flexible model, offering multiple benefits to customers, with services available at over 560 sites worldwide, it says.
BT Ireland, said that the agreement builds on its successful partnership with Equinix and ensures that customers will benefit from first-class data center services on a national and global scale, enabling BT to specialise in its core business areas of cloud, networks and security.
