Voltalia: construction of solar power plant in Albania
(CercleFinance.com) - Voltalia announces the start of construction of the Spitalla solar power plant in Albania.
With a capacity of 100 megawatts, the project is located in the Durrës region on the Adriatic coast, under 50 kilometres from the capital Tirana.
Electricity production will be sold under two long-term contracts: 70 megawatts will be dedicated to the public contract won in 2021, and the remaining 30 megawatts will be dedicated to a contract with private-sector buyers.
The Spitalla power plant will cover the annual electricity consumption of over 150,000 inhabitants, and avoid the emission of more than 18,000 tonnes of CO2 per year. Commissioning is scheduled for the second half of 2027.
