Electrolux: E44.5m fine in France
(CercleFinance.com) - Electrolux confirmed on Thursday that it had been fined E44.
5m by the French Competition Authority for taking part in price-fixing cartels in France.
The Swedish household appliances group said it had already booked the fine as an exceptional item in its Q2 2023 results, the date on which an out-of-court settlement had been reached with the French regulator.
This morning, the French competition authority (Autorité de la Concurrence) imposed a E611m fine on 10 manufacturers and two distributors of household electrical appliances for taking part in vertical price-fixing practices.
According to the authority, these agreements were implemented between February 2007 and December 2014 and were aimed at maintaining higher sales prices, particularly in the face of the emergence of online distributors.
The companies sanctioned are BSH, Candy Hoover, Eberhardt, Electrolux, Whirlpool, LG, Miele, SEB, Smeg, Boulanger and Darty.
