Alstom: completes order for SWR in UK
(CercleFinance.com) - Alstom has completed a £25m upgrade of the Class 458 fleet of electric multiple units (EMUs) for the South Western Railway (SWR).
The refurbishment was funded by Porterbrook, one of the UK's leading rolling stock finance and asset management companies and owner of the Class 458 fleet.
Twenty-eight four-carriage units were refurbished at Alstom's Transport Technology Centre in Widnes.
Alstom said that the work at Widnes and Crewe not only improves the passenger experience of the Class 458 fleet, but also highlights the value of British engineering and our investment in local expertise.
