GE Vernova: wins Ostwind 4 project in Germany
(CercleFinance.com) - GE Vernova announces that, in a consortium with Drydocks World, it has won the Ostwind 4 project awarded by 50Hertz, a German grid operator.
The project, the first of its kind in the German Baltic Sea, involves the design, construction and commissioning of a 2 GW high-voltage direct current (HVDC) power transmission system to connect an offshore wind farm to the German grid.
Scheduled for completion by the end of 2031, the project will use advanced 525 kV technology to minimize energy losses over long distances.
GE Vernova will supply converters, high-voltage transformers, GIS equipment, and supervise civil works.
This project is part of Germany's energy transition, aiming for 80% renewable electricity by 2030 and zero net emissions by 2045.
