Canal+: share price plummets on London debut

(CercleFinance.com) - Canal+ shares fell sharply late Monday morning, as the French audiovisual group failed to attract investor interest in its first listing on the London Stock Exchange.

Around 10:30 a.m. (local time), the share price fell by almost 15% to 247 pence, after opening at 290 pence.

The first stockmarket listings of Vivendi subsidiaries Canal+, Havas and Louis Hachette Group met with a mixed reception on Monday, as the media and entertainment group was spun off.

On Euronext Amsterdam, the Havas share climbed more than 7% on its first trading day, while Louis Hachette soared 25% on the Paris Bourse.

For the record, each Vivendi shareholder received one Canal+ share, one Havas share and one Louis Hachette Group share for each share held, while retaining his or her Vivendi share.
