Valeo: lighting partnership with ams OSRAM
(CercleFinance.com) - On Thursday, Valeo announced a partnership with Austria's ams OSRAM in the field of lighting for vehicle interiors.
The companies explain that they intend to rely on an innovative technology called 'Open System Protocol' (OSP), enabling the use of intelligent LEDs to create animation throughout the passenger compartment or in more specific areas.
With this 'highly controlled' system, speed, luminance or color can be individually managed to provide, for example, a warning or visual feedback.
Valeo and ams OSRAM say that use cases can range from incoming calls to personal assistant visualization, via navigation or driver assistance system (ADAS) commands.
In addition, the system's software can be updated throughout the vehicle's lifetime to offer additional functionalities, or even vehicle customization, they add.
