Equinor: Johan Castberg field soon onstream

(CercleFinance.com) - Equinor announces that the Johan Castberg field, developed with Vår Energi and Petoro, is scheduled to go into production in January/February 2025.

The Johan Castberg FPSO (floating production, storage and offloading unit), anchored in the Barents Sea, is connected to the subsea facilities, marking the final phase of the project.

According to Geir Tungesvik, Executive Vice President of Equinor, the field will strengthen Norway's energy position, and could be the site of future tie-ins.

With 12 wells ready for production, Johan Castberg will reach an output of 220,000 barrels per day, for volumes estimated at between 450 and 650 million barrels of oil.

Initially scheduled for late 2024, commissioning has been slightly delayed due to adverse weather conditions.
