bp: agreement for JV in offshore wind energy
(CercleFinance.com) - bp announces an agreement with JERA to combine their offshore wind activities into a new, equally-owned, stand-alone joint venture that it says will become one of the world's largest developers, owners and operators of offshore wind turbines.
Baptized JERA Nex bp, this joint venture, combining complementary expertise, will comprise operating assets and development projects with a total potential net generating capacity of 13 GW.
The partners have agreed to equity financing of up to $5.8bn for investments committed before the end of 2030. Subject to regulatory and other approvals, JERA Nex bp would be created by the end of Q3 2025.
