GSK: WHO grants prequalification to tafenoquine
(CercleFinance.com) - GSK and Medicines for Malaria Venture (MMV) announce that the WHO has granted prequalification to tafenoquine, the first single-dose treatment for relapsing 'Plasmodium vivax' malaria.
This drug, co-administered with chloroquine, is now included in the WHO's updated guidelines for South America.
Intended for patients aged 2 and over and weighing at least 10 kg, it simplifies treatment by replacing long diets, which are often poorly followed.
