Sanofi: billion euro investment in China
(CercleFinance.com) - Sanofi plans to invest around one billion euros in the construction of a new insulin production site based in Beijing, according to official information announced on Tuesday.
According to the Beijing Economic and Technological Development Zone, the biopharmaceutical group has signed a memorandum of understanding with local authorities to build the plant in the southern district of Yizhuang.
Sanofi's fourth production and supply unit in China will represent its largest single investment in the country to date, it says.
The new facility, which is to be equipped with the latest advanced automation technologies and state-of-the-art digital management systems while meeting environmental standards, aims to meet the growing needs of diabetic patients in the country.
Sanofi has been present in China since the opening of its first office in 1982, and currently operates several production and R&D facilities across the country.
