Rio Tinto: completes sale of Lake MacLeod to Leichhardt
(CercleFinance.com) - Rio Tinto announces that it has completed the sale of the Lake MacLeod operation, owned by Dampier Salt Limited (a company 68%-owned by Rio Tinto), to Leichhardt Industrials Group, for A$375m (approximately E232m).
Leichhardt is taking over all operations and has undertaken to retain all 127 employees.
The Lake MacLeod operation, located on Baiyungu and Yinggarda land in Western Australia, includes solar salt (1.5 Mt/year), gypsum (1 Mt/year) and a deepwater port at Cape Cuvier.
Dampier Salt states that no further divestments are planned, its remaining assets including sites at Dampier and Port Hedland.
