Siemens: battery-powered trains delivered to Rhineland in 2026
(CercleFinance.com) - Siemens announced on Monday that the first deliveries of its environmentally-friendly battery-powered trains to the state of North Rhine-Westphalia (Germany) will take place in the summer of 2026.
The Regiobahn rail transport company will use three Mireo Plus B trains with a range of 120 km and speeds of up to 140 km/h on the route between Remscheid and Düsseldorf.
Used to replace diesel-powered trains, the battery-powered trains will save 2,500 tonnes of CO2 per year.
