Argan: starts building courier site in Lens
(CercleFinance.com) - On Thursday evening, Argan announced the start of construction work on a 9,000 m2 parcel delivery site to be based in Lens, in the Nord region of France, to profit from the boom in e-commerce.
This future platform - with a total surface area of 9,000 m2 - will mainly include a 7,400 m2 cross-dock mailroom linking suppliers and distribution centres, equipped with 68 levelling docks.
The building will be completed by a 1,200 m2 office complex on the upper floor.
In addition, a 150 kWp photovoltaic power plant will be installed on the roof, to be used exclusively for self-consumption by the operator, an undisclosed transport and logistics specialist.
The lease has been signed for a firm 12-year term.
Argan explains that the site was chosen because of its proximity to two warehouses of 55,000 m2 and 25,000 m2 respectively, which the real estate company already leases to Arcania and Carrefour.
