Eni: acquires four offshore blocks in Côte d'Ivoire
(CercleFinance.com) - Eni announced on Thursday that it had reached an agreement with Côte d'Ivoire to acquire four offshore blocks located close to a field that had already produced promising results.
The Italian oil group, which is not disclosing the financial terms of the deal, states that the four assets concerned cover a total area of 5,720 km2 in water depths ranging from 1,000 to 3,500 meters.
They are located close to a block that had recently yielded hydrocarbon discoveries, which, according to the energy company, will enable it to benefit from a strategic opportunity and generate synergies.
Its exploration license will be valid for a period of nine years.
Eni - which says that it has been present in Côte d'Ivoire since 2015 - currently produces some 22,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day in the country.
