Renault: launches car-sharing service in Utrecht
(CercleFinance.com) - Renault, We Drive Solar and MyWheels have teamed up with the city of Utrecht to launch Europe's first V2G car-sharing service using bi-directional charging technology, Vehicle-to-Grid (V2G).
Utrecht is one of Europe's most advanced cities in the use of renewable energies, with already 35% of all roofs covered with solar panels.
The use of Mobilize's V2G technology would represent a significant step forward, enabling We Drive Solar's public infrastructure and services to contribute to a more resilient and sustainable energy system on a large scale, it says.
Renault Group will supply 500 Renault 5 E-Tech electric cars equipped with Mobilize's V2G technology. We Drive Solar will supply and operate the bi-directional charging stations. The Renault fleet will be operated by MyWheels, the largest car-sharing company in the Netherlands.
