GE Vernova: combined-cycle power plant project in Ghana

(CercleFinance.com) - The President of the Republic of Ghana has announced the Ghana Bridge Power project, a modern facility that will enable the country to increase its power generation capacity while improving energy efficiency and environmental sustainability by leveraging GE Vernova technologies.

Specifically, the project calls for the construction of a power plant with a capacity of up to 515 MW, at an estimated cost of $1.2bn, located in Kpone, in Ghana's heavy industrial zone.

The Bridge Power plant, powered by five GE Vernova TM2500 aeroderivative gas turbines, is expected to be one of the most operationally flexible combined-cycle power plants in Ghana.

The project will mark the world's first use of GE Vernova's trailer-mounted aeroderivative gas turbines in a combined-cycle configuration.

The project will sell power to the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) under a 25-year Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) backed by a Power Purchase and Sale Option Agreement (PCOA) with the Government of Ghana.
