ING: takes stake in Verkor
(CercleFinance.com) - Through its ING Sustainable Investments fund, ING announces its investment in Verkor, an innovative French start-up that is specialised in the production of low-carbon batteries.
Intended to actively support the acceleration of the energy transition in Europe, this investment is in addition to ING's participation in the E1.3bn bank financing announced in May for the construction of the gigafactory located in Dunkirk.
Indeed, the joint investment by the Dutch bank and other committed players will enable Verkor to press ahead with this plant project, which will be operational in 2025 with an initial production capacity of 16 GWh/year.
ING has explicit and ambitious sustainability objectives to play an important role in the decarbonization of society and the economy, where electric mobility will continue to play a key role, says Mark Weustink, Head of ING Sustainable Investments.
