Eutelsat: selected by EU for the IRIS program
(CercleFinance.com) - SpaceRISE, a consortium comprising Eutelsat, Hispasat, SES and other key members, has been selected by the European Commission to design, implement and operate IRIS, the European Union's multi-orbit connectivity program.
This selection marks a crucial step in the development of a secure, resilient and sovereign communications infrastructure in Europe, the group said.
The IRIS program will consolidate Europe's resilience and digital sovereignty by providing all EU member states with low-latency connectivity services.
Eutelsat adds that the IRIS program is fully in line with Eutelsat's commitment to promote Europe's digital sovereignty through sustained investment in multi-orbit technologies for the deployment of low-latency, multi-layer telecommunications networks, all of which are essential for Europe's strategic resilience.
