Rexel: fined by French AC
(CercleFinance.com) - Rexel has learned of the decision handed down by the French Competition Authority (Autorité de la Concurrence - AC), which penalised Rexel, Schneider, Legrand and Sonepar for anti-competitive agreements based on a mechanism for reducing distributors' purchase prices, known as 'dérogations'.
Sentenced to a fine of E124m, Rexel has stated that it will carefully study the decision of the French Competition Authority and reserves the right to appeal to the Paris Court of Appeal.
It considers the derogation mechanism to be a classic commercial discount on the purchase price granted to the distributor, which leaves the latter free to set its resale prices and offer its customers the most competitive product.
