Suez: signs MoU with CMA CGM for biomethane
(CercleFinance.com) - The CMA CGM Group and Suez have signed a memorandum of understanding, aiming to establish a long-term industrial partnership for the production of biomethane, a renewable fuel produced from waste, in order to contribute to the decarbonization of maritime transport in Europe.
This memorandum of understanding defines 3 main areas of collaboration. Suez will supply up to 100,000 tonnes of biomethane per year by 2030. This biomethane would be used by the CMA CGM Group.
The creation of a joint investment structure, with a budget of E100m for a first tranche by 2030, with the aim of developing biomethane production sites.
Joint R&D initiatives aimed at designing innovative technologies for biofuel production, notably via a hydrothermal gasification process.
The CMA CGM Group, committed to the energy transition in shipping and logistics, has set itself the goal of achieving Net Zero Carbon by 2050.
