EDF: EU approves joint venture with Masdar
(CercleFinance.com) - Under EU Merger Regulations the European Commission has approved the creation of a joint venture by Abu Dhabi Future Energy Company PJSC (Masdar), based in the United Arab Emirates, and Electricité de France (EDF), based in France.
The transaction mainly concerns the operation of water and wastewater treatment plants, as well as power generation facilities, in Saudi Arabia.
The Commission concluded that the proposed concentration would not raise competition concerns, given the limited impact on the European Economic Area. The notified transaction was examined under the simplified merger control procedure.
