Nokia: major contract with Vodafone in India
(CercleFinance.com) - Nokia announces that it has won a three-year contract from Vodafone Idea Limited (VIL) to deploy 4G and 5G equipment in major Indian cities, a rollout that will provide high-end connectivity to 200 million VIL customers.
The agreement includes the modernization and extension of VIL's existing 4G network. Nokia will supply equipment from its energy-efficient AirScale portfolio, including its MantaRay SON solution for network optimization and automation.
The Finnish group will increase its market share and replace the incumbent supplier in Chennai and Andhra Pradesh, making it the largest supplier in areas that generate more than 50% of VIL's sales. Deployment will begin immediately.
