Ryanair: expands aircraft fleet in Sweden

(CercleFinance.com) - Ryanair has welcomed the Swedish government's decision to abolish the aviation tax from 1 July 2025, which will reduce high access costs and make Sweden more competitive and attractive for airlines.

Following this strategic decision, Ryanair will add 2 additional B737 aircraft to its Swedish-based fleet ($200 million investment) for summer 2025 - 1 in Arlanda and 1 in Gothenburg - creating 60 new jobs for pilots, cabin crew and engineers locally. The airline will create 10 new Ryanair routes for Swedish citizens and visitors.

Ryanair CEO Eddie Wilson said Ryanair is delighted to announce significant growth and expansion in Sweden, following the Swedish government's forward-thinking decision to abolish the damaging aviation tax, which has held back Sweden's post-Covid recovery and stifled traffic, employment and economic growth. The abolition of this tax will align Sweden's competitiveness with that of its EU counterparts and enable Ryanair to generate record growth and investment in Sweden.
