Eni: to launch construction of a biorefinery
(CercleFinance.com) - Eni has received the authorizations for the construction of a biorefinery in Livorno.
The group confirms that the authorization has been granted by the Italian Ministry for the Environment and Energy Security.
Construction of Italy's third biorefinery will begin as soon as the Ministry for the Environment and Energy Security has issued the single authorization and the corresponding building permit.
The refinery, which will use Ecofining technology, will have a production capacity of 500,000 tonnes per year. Completion is scheduled for 2026.
The Group aims to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050, and to increase Enilive's biorefinery capacity from the current 1.65 million tons/year to over 5 million tons/year by 2030.
