
Airbus: successfully launches Sentinel-2C satellite
(CercleFinance.com) - Airbus has announced that the third Copernicus Sentinel-2 satellite, built by the group, has been launched aboard a Vega rocket from Kourou, French Guiana, as part of the European environmental program Copernicus.
This Sentinel-2C satellite is scheduled to enter service in a low Earth orbit at 780 km after initial testing and commissioning. It will replace the Sentinel-2A satellite, which is nearing retirement.
Equipped with a high-resolution multispectral imager, the satellite will gather vital images for a myriad of applications ranging from food safety to water quality monitoring, the aircraft manufacturer explains.
