Euronext: launches spread trading for wheat
(CercleFinance.com) - Euronext announced on Wednesday that it plans to offer its customers the possibility of trading spreads on futures for certain agricultural commodities.
From 14 October, investors will be able to trade spreads via three financial instruments, including two contracts on the difference between European wheat futures prices and those of the Chicago Board of Trade (CBOT).
The third contract will be on the difference between derivatives of European wheat and corn prices quoted on Euronext.
Each contract will expire in March, May, September and December.
Euronext says that this offer will enable investors to avoid having to monitor several ranges of derivatives separately, and therefore reduce their transaction costs.
With these new products launched with the CME, Euronext hopes to attract investors from other regions, bring the European and American wheat trading communities closer together, and increase volumes and liquidity on its markets.
These are the first 'spread' contracts launched by the pan-European exchange operator.
