BAE Systems: delivers space instrument to NASA
(CercleFinance.com) - BAE Systems has announced the successful shipment of the Wide Field Instrument (WFI) for the Nancy Grace Roman Space Telescope to NASA's Goddard Space Flight Center.
The telescope's primary scientific instrument, the WFI is designed to capture detailed images of vast swathes of the sky, offering a field of view 100 times larger than that of the Hubble Space Telescope.
It is expected to enhance astronomical research by revealing information about dark matter, dark energy, as well as distant galaxies and exoplanets.
BAE Systems designed and built the instrument's opto-mechanical assembly, while NASA developed the focal plane system and other electronic components.
