AMD: acquires Silo AI
(CercleFinance.com) - AMD announced on Monday that it has acquired Silo AI, Europe's largest privately-owned AI lab, in a cash deal worth around $665m.
The processor manufacturer explains that the acquisition of this R&D specialist will enable it to strengthen its positioning in the artificial intelligence market, its current strategic priority.
Silo AI's scientists and researchers design large language models (LLMs) in several languages for major companies such as Allianz, Philips, Rolls-Royce and Unilever.
Its AI-based applications equip, among other things, intelligent appliances, autonomous vehicles, equipment for Industry 4.0 and infrastructure for smart cities.
Founded in 2017, Silo AI currently has offices in Finland, Sweden, Denmark, Switzerland and Canada.
