J&J: new robotic tool for spinal surgery
(CercleFinance.com) - Johnson & Johnson MedTech announced that DePuy Synthes, Johnson & Johnson's orthopedic company, has launched an exclusive dual-purpose autonomous robotic navigation platform developed in collaboration with eCential Robotics.
The system, dubbed the 'VELYS Active Robotic-Assisted System' (VELYS SPINE), has received clearance from the US FDA for use in the planning and instrumentation of spinal fusion procedures in the cervical, thoracolumbar and sacroiliac spine.
This new technology has been designed to help spine surgeons meet their most complex challenges, J&J says.
We believe the unique features and capabilities of active robotic technology will set a new standard in surgical care for spine patients around the world, DePuy Synthes said.
