
Amazon: net profit doubles in Q2
(CercleFinance.com) - On Thursday evening Amazon reported Q2 2024 net income that doubled to $13.
5bn, or $1.26 per share, with operating profit rising from $7.7bn to $14.7bn y-o-y.
The tech giant's revenues rose 10% to $148bn, with growth of 9% in the North America segment, 7% in the international segment and 19% in the AWS (Amazon Web Services) segment.
As businesses continue to modernize their infrastructure and migrate to the cloud, while exploiting new opportunities in generative AI, AWS remains the first choice for customers, it said.
Amazon says it anticipates Q3 operating profit of $11.5bn to $15bn (compared with $11.2bn in Q3 2023), with revenues between $154bn and $158.5bn, up 8% to 11%.
