Airbus: net income down 46% in 1st half

(CercleFinance.com) - Airbus reports sales of 28.
8 billion euros for the 1st half, up 4% year-on-year. Defense activities accounted for E5.15 billion, up 8%.

The aircraft manufacturer reported adjusted EBIT of E1,391 million, down 47%.
While R&D expenditure rose 11% to E1,593 million, net income was E825 million, down 46%, giving EPS of E1.04 (-46%).

' Our mid-year financial performance mainly reflects the high costs associated with our space activities. We are working hard to resolve the root causes of these difficulties", commented Guillaume Faury, Airbus Executive Chairman.

In terms of outlook, the company is targeting 770 commercial aircraft deliveries in 2024, adjusted EBIT of around E5.5 billion and free cash flow before customer financing of around E3.5 billion.
