KPN: Q2 results beat expectations

(CercleFinance.com) - Dutch telecom operator KPN reported better-than-expected quarterly results on Wednesday, thanks to the strength of its consumer and business activities.

Its current operating profit after rent, known as "Ebitda AL" - a key industry metric - rose by 6% in Q2, to E629m, against a consensus of E622m provided by the company.

Sales rose 4.5% to E1.39bn, against a consensus of E1.38bn.

The group - which recently completed the acquisition of virtual operator Youfone - claims to have benefited from the dynamism of its consumer activities, led by mobile telephony and fiber, but also highlights its solid positioning with SMEs.

KPN is also confident of achieving its 2024 annual targets, an optimism that did not however prevent it from falling over 2% in Amsterdam on Wednesday.
