Siemens: tests railway assistance system
(CercleFinance.com) - Siemens announces that, for the first time, an innovative obstacle detection system is being tested on the Berlin S-Bahn.
In collaboration with S-Bahn Berlin and the Digital Rail Germany (DSD) initiative, Siemens Mobility has installed the system on the latest 484 series train.
This aims to develop an assistance system for accident prevention and autonomous driving at low speeds.
The aim of the project is to evaluate the system's performance under various conditions, in order to fine-tune it and optimize sensor positioning.
The system aims to prevent accidents, stabilize daily operations and increase punctuality, while paving the way for fully automated rail operations.
