ABB: major contract with Smurfit Kappa in Mexico
(CercleFinance.com) - ABB announces that it has been awarded 'a major contract' to modernize Smurfit Kappa's number 5 paper machine (PM5) at its corrugated board plant near Mexico City.
ABB will supply its distributed control system and advanced drives to optimize the PM5's performance.
This project marks the first collaboration between the two companies in this region, and should significantly increase Smurfit Kappa's efficiency and production.
Smurfit Kappa, a global leader in paper packaging, has been operating in Mexico since 1957 and has invested over $350m in the country since 2018.
