Ford: Mustang Mach-E boosts Q2 sales

(CercleFinance.com) - Ford announced on Wednesday that its Q2 vehicle sales in the US were up around 1%, mainly thanks to the success of the Mustang Mach-E, whose sales jumped by more than 46% over the period.

The US automaker reported total sales of 536,050 units for the period April to June, compared with 531,662 for the same period last year. While the automaker's performance is usually boosted by its pick-ups, sales of its larger models rose by just 4.5% in Q2.

By contrast, sales of the electric Mustang Mach-E almost doubled to 12,645 units in the quarter, compared with 8,633 a year earlier. Overall, EV sales jumped 61.4% to 23,957 in Q2, and those of hybrids by 55.6%, Ford said in a press release, while sales of internal combustion engine cars fell by 5%.

On the New York Stock Exchange, Ford shares fell by about 0.2% on Wednesday morning following the publication of these figures.
