Goldman Sachs: EU clears UK transaction
(CercleFinance.com) - The European Commission has cleared the acquisition of joint control of the UK companies Calisen and MapleCo by BlackRock Alternatives Management ("BlackRock"), The Goldman Sachs Group ("Goldman Sachs"), Mubadala Investment Company PJSC ("Mubadala") and Equitix Holdings Limited ("Equitix").
Calisen and MapleCo are energy meter suppliers operating in the UK. Calisen is currently jointly controlled by BlackRock, Mubadala and Goldman Sachs. Meanwhile, MapleCo is currently solely controlled by Equitix.
Mubadala is an investment management company active in various sectors. Equitix is a long-term investor, developer and fund manager of core infrastructure and energy efficiency assets.
The Commission concluded that the proposed acquisition would not raise competition concerns as the joint venture would have negligible actual or anticipated activities in the European Economic Area.
