Bombardier: new speed record for the Global 7500
(CercleFinance.com) - Bombardier announced on Monday that its Global 7500 business jet set a 100th speed record last week, putting it at the top of its class.
The Canadian aircraft manufacturer reports that the aircraft reached this new milestone on February 28, during a flight from San Luis Obispo (California) to London-Biggin Hill airport, which took nine hours and 17 minutes, an average speed of almost 1,000 kph.
This new record joins those previously set on routes such as Tokyo-San Francisco, London-Riyadh, Oakland-Tokyo, Hartford-Dubai and Tokyo-Toronto.
While the Global 7500 boasts a top speed of Mach 0.925 and a basic range of 7700 nautical miles (14.260 km), its successor, the Global 8000, should achieve a speed of Mach 0.94 and a range of 8000 nautical miles.
It is due to enter service by the end of the year.
