Whirlpool: confirms 250 million euro investment in Italy
(CercleFinance.com) - US appliance maker Whirlpool confirmed investments totalling 250 million euros up to 2021 for its industrial sites in Italy.
The deal is part of a strategic industrial plan that was signed with the Italian government in October 2018 on topics such as innovation, processes and research & development.
Over 80 million euros have already been allocated to the sites this year, Whirlpool said.
The reshoring from Poland of built-in washing machines and washer/dryers in Comunanza (central Italy) has been confirmed, meaning that the site will benefit from increased volumes.
Regarding the Naples plant, Whirlpool said it intends to proceed with its reconversion and sell the business to a third party that is capable of "guaranteeing industrial continuity and maximum employment levels," the group said.
