Verizon: names former Ericsson boss as new CEO

(CercleFinance.com) - US telecoms giant Verizon Communications has promoted Hans Vestberg to the role of CEO, replacing Lowell McAdam, who will retire from the company at the end of the year.


Since April 2017, Vestberg has served as Verizon's chief technology officer, responsible for further developing the architecture of the operator's fiber-centric networks.

Before joining Verizon, Vestberg, 57, served for six years as CEO of Swedish networking and telecommunications equipment maker Ericsson.

McAdam, 64, will serve as executive chairman of the board until his retirement from the company at the end of the year, at which time he will become non-executive chairman.
