Verizon: to test 5G technology in 11 select US cities.

(CercleFinance.com) - Verizon plans to deliver 5G pre-commercial services to select customers in 11 cities in the first half of 2017, the US telephone company said on Wednesday.


Verizon will offer 5G to pilot customers in Ann Arbor, Atlanta, Bernardsville (New Jersey), Brockton (Massachusetts), Dallas, Denver, Houston, Miami, Sacramento, Seattle and Washington D.C.

The operator will partner up with Swedish telecoms equipment maker Ericsson to roll out the 5G customer trials in a bid to accelerate the commercialisation of gigabit broadband service to homes and offices.

Competitor AT&T said today that it had successfully conducted 5G streaming tests with Nokia on the DirecTV Now platform.
