Twitter: names two independent directors to board
(CercleFinance.com) - Twitter on Thursday named two new independent directors to its board, effective immediately, in an attempt to improve transparency and make the company a "safer, healthier place".
The microblogging platform appointed Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, a senior advisor to private bank Lazard since 2015, to its board. Prior to joining Lazard, she served as the Minister of Finance of Nigeria.
Twitter will also appoint Robert Zoellick, chairman of the board of investment management firm AllianceBernstein.
Marjorie Scardino, the former CEO of Pearson who joined the board in 2013, will be stepping down for personal reasons at the end of the year, Twitter added.
